YaaYY ! As a diver with more than 400 ocean and quarry dives ( not counting my volunteer dives with the aquarium ) this really excites me. Where is this to be ? Please share more info so I can share with clubs etc. I live in VA now and travel to NC PDRA quarries for affordable diving now. Will there be a shop for air fills and tank rentals on site ? Great idea ! Looking forward to diving there !

    • Hi Pam,

There are several quarries that we are considering. The Virginia Divearium will initially not have a shop on the quarry grounds, but will coordinate with local dive shops for customer discounts on gear sales, rentals, and fills.

It’s been awhile since you’ve heard from me about the project. I’m pleased to tell you that positive momentum is finally happening.

Silver Lake Regional Park has a quarry on the premises that is abandoned and unused. The 10-member Prince William County Parks Commission unanimously voted in June to push forward a recommendation to the General Board of Supervisors to move ahead with the project.

My business partner and scuba buddy have been given permission to perform an exploratory dive of the quarry this coming Sunday, August 6th. We will take pictures and videos of the underwater environment. These will be included in the final presentation to the General Board, with the hope that they will agree to a Public-Private Lease Partnership with us.

Based on these indicators, The Divearium will probably become a reality by the end of 2018.

    More to come!
